Hiking Boots, Bears, & Blisters: A Woman's Backpacking Adventures from the Catskills to the Grand Canyon

Hiking Boots, Bears, & Blisters: A Woman's Backpacking Adventures from the Catskills to the Grand Canyon In-Person

Ashley Furey is no stranger to adventure. In 2019 she took time off from teaching elementary school to travel the world. After six months on the road, she and her partner barely made it back to the US in late March of 2020 just as borders were closing due to Covid19. Frustrated by cabin fever, she began hiking in the Catskills....which led to summiting all 35 of the high peaks, which led to backpacking the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail, which led to an overnight rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon after a snowfall. Furey will talk about the preparations and challenges, frustrations and epiphanies of hiking and camping alone...but far from lonely. Whether you're an armchair adventurer or an outdoorsperson looking to step to the next level, this will be a fascinating opportunity to learn, be inspired, and ask questions!
